Watts signs with Cal State Bakersfield
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Granite Hills graduate Princess Watts has signed a national letter of intent to run track at Cal State Bakersfield this coming school year.
Watts received a partial scholarship from the Roadrunners, for whom she will compete in the 200 and 400 meters and on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Watts said she chose Bakersfield over Cal State Stanislaus and UNLV because the coaches were very nice when she visited. She added that former Granite Hills coach Romaine Washington knew the Roadrunners coach and was instrumental in her getting a scholarship.
Watts plans to major in communications and then hopefully become a sports agent upon graduation.
As a senior, Watts broke the Desert Sky League 400 meters record at the league finals and defended her title from a year ago. She also advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Division II finals in the event and participated on the 4x400 team that broke a school record.
Watts ran on the varsity squad all four years and started on the basketball team the last two seasons.
