Dunham signs with Poets
Sultana senior to follow in grandfather’s footsteps at Whittier college
VICTORVILLE — Sultana senior Brett Dunham signed a letter of intent to play football at Whittier College on Tuesday afternoon at the Daily Press offices.
Dunham, a two-year starter and three-year varsity player for the Sultans, received a three-fourths scholarship to play for the Poets next season. He said he will likely play outside linebacker at the Division III school and major in business.
Dunham’s grandfather, Robert Dunham, played football at Whittier and is in the college’s Hall of Fame. When he visited the school, Brett said he saw a plaque and a picture of his grandfather, who has passed away.
Dunham will also join former Sultana football player Matt Reaber, who will be a senior defensive lineman at Whittier this season.
As a senior at Sultana, Dunham led the team in tackles and sacks at middle linebacker and also had a 4.0 grade point average. He started at defensive end as a junior.
