ALL-PURPOSE
Treasurie Hatten, so., Victor Valley

Hatten won a DSL championship in the 300 hurdles, finished second at league finals in the 100 meters (12.66 seconds) and was part of the DSL champion 4x100-meter relay team and the second-place 4x400 team. She helped the Jackrabbits’ 4x100 team finish second in Division II at the CIF-SS finals.

DISTANCE (800, 1600, 3200)
Hannah Valenzuela, fr., Apple Valley

The only freshman on this year’s All-Area Team, Valenzuela set a new meet record at the MRL finals with a time of 10 minutes, 57.38 seconds in the 3,200 meters. She ended up advancing to the CIF finals in the event.

HIGH JUMP/POLE VAULT
Thea Weiss, jr., Granite Hills

Weiss won a DSL pole vault championship, was third in the CIF-SS Division II prelims, advanced to the CIF finals and was a first alternate for Masters. Her season-best mark was 11 feet, which she achieved at the Mt. SAC Invitational. She also qualified for CIF in the 100 meters.

HURDLES (100, 300)
Brean Williams, sr., Apple Valley

Williams won MRL titles in both hurdling events in addition to competing for the MRL champion 4x100-meter relay team and qualifying for CIF with the 4x400 team. She advanced to the CIF finals, where ran the 300 hurdles in 46.50 seconds and the 100 hurdles in 15.71 seconds. She ran the 100 hurdles in 15.55 at CIF prelims.

LONG JUMP/TRIPLE JUMP
Shawna Fermin, jr., Silverado

Fermin won DSL championships in the long jump and triple jump (33 feet, 8 inches) and advanced to CIF-SS Division I finals in the 400 in addition to helping the Hawks’ 4x400 relay team win the league title. She advanced to the CIF-SS Division I finals in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 5 inches.

SPRINTS (100, 200 400)
Christina Satterwhite, jr., Victor Valley

Satterwhite’s season-best in the 100 meters was 12.03 seconds, and she went on to win a DSL championship in the event. She helped the Victor Valley 4x100 team finish second in the CIF-SS Division II finals and helped the 4x400 team qualify for CIF. She was also a dominant 200-meter sprinter during the regular season.

THROWS (Shot put, Discus)
Kayla Kovar, jr., Burroughs

Because of Ridgecrest’s distance from the Victor Valley area, Burroughs athletes are typically not considered for the All-Area team. But Kovar so thoroughly dominated the rest of the High Desert in the shot put and discus that she’s worthy of an exception. She set new DSL finals records in both the shot put (39 feet, 8 inches) and discus (150-1), then went on to finish third at the state meet with a discus throw of 154-10.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Keith Copeland, Victor Valley

Copeland’s Jackrabbits girls team battled it out with a tough Granite Hills squad during the DSL season and won the league title. It was the first time Victor Valley had won the league crown since 2004.
