Eubanks signs with Georgia Military College

Silverado’s Cantrell Eubanks loaded up on classes this year to graduate a year early.

His hard work in the classroom led to Eubanks signing a national letter of intent on Friday to play football at Georgia Military College in the fall.

Eubanks, a Georgia native, said that he received a two-thirds scholarship from the liberal arts college, but that could increase depending on how training camp goes beginning Aug. 10.

While he played mostly defensive back at Silverado, Eubanks said that he will play mainly running back and plans to transfer to the University of Georgia after a year or two.

Georgia Military College is an Army academy which requires students to join its ROTC program, but they don’t have to join the military after college.

The football program won a national junior college championship in 2001 and was runner up in ’02 and ’05.

As a junior this year, Eubanks took eight classes and even took online college courses offered by Victor Valley College to graduate ahead of time.

He said he already has 20 college credits.

Eubanks said he plans to major in business management.
